Accomplishments in Service to the Church



1986:
Documented the retirement crisis faced by US religious orders and mobilized millions of donors across the country to assist elderly nuns and priests to live in dignity and security.

1987:
Inaugurated SOAR! (Support Our Aging Religious) collection which has since raised hundreds of millions of dollars towards retirement funds.

 




1988
:
Played a major role influencing open discussions on the use of money and the enlistment of volunteers and talent in dioceses and parishes throughout the country. Collaborated with the USCCB in the development of US Bishop Pastoral Letter on stewardship.

 



1989:
Took initiative with church leadership that led to the US Campaign to rebuild the church in Eastern and Central Europe.





1990: Collaborated with the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in the design of curricula for the teachings of homilies later officially adopted by the US bishops.






1991: Commissioned, in collaboration with the Vatican, the first independent financial management study of the Holy See resulting in improved fundraising and fiscal reporting.



 



1992:
Created the first national training institute for those responsible for recruiting priests and religious.




 

1994: Helped establish a multi-year constructive dialogue between Catholic university and college presidents and the US church hierarchy resulting in stronger mission-centered Catholic institutions of higher learning.

 


1999
: Inaugurated with Boston College the Institute for Administrators in Catholic Higher Education (IACHE); an annual week-long course for college & university leaders responsible for the religious mission of their institutions that continues today.



 

2002: Commissioned first national polling research on parishioner attitudes toward Catholic giving.


 



2006:
Commissioned an award-winning volume series,
Called to Holiness, addressing Christian spirituality from women's perspectives.






2007: Coordinated, in collaboration with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, a multi-million dollar fundraising program to assist eight congregations of sisters in New Orleans to rebuild social and educational ministries serving the poor.

 




2011:
Conducted its 80th national conference on church life resulting in the widespread use of church-related research and numerous philanthropic initiatives.
