Catholic Funding Guide Second Edition to Be Released Next Month

Washington, D.C. ----- FADICA announced that a five hundred-page book containing information on over nine hundred funding agencies with Catholic interests will be rolling off the presses in January, 2001.

The Catholic Funding Guide Second Edition, nearly a year in preparation, contains more than three hundred new entries over the inaugural edition which debuted in 1998. The Guide's editor is Kerry A. Robinson, a philanthropic consultant.

The CFG Second Edition lists private and corporate foundations, national and international Catholic funding agencies, as well as funding programs under the sponsorship of religious and fraternal organizations. In addition, the book lists many newly endowed health care foundations created by using the multi-million dollar proceeds from the sale of individual Catholic hospitals.

The Catholic Funding Guide has enjoyed praise from a wide array of church leaders. Bishop William B. Friend of the Diocese of Shreveport, and Secretary to the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, for example has said: "The Catholic Funding Guide puts a valuable tool into the hands of committed volunteers and can aid them in their efforts to advance the mission of the church."

America Magazine editor Thomas J. Reese, SJ, remarked that The Catholic Funding Guide "contains an impressive array of agencies with funding histories in the Catholic sector, and it will serve the novice fundraiser and the professional alike."

The Guide is designed to be of service in nearly every sector of church life from parochial schools and parishes to social service institutions and missionary programs, from hospitals and universities to seminaries and retirement facilities.

Dr. Monika K. Hellwig, of the Association of Catholic Colleges ad Universities, said: "The Catholic Funding Guide is a valuable resource for Catholic colleges and universities, especially in this time when they are undertaking so many creative new measures to strengthen their religious identity."

Catholic parishes will also benefit from the new publication. "Parish staffs and volunteers are faced with ever expanding demands on their time," said Msgr. Philip J. Murnion of the National Pastoral Life Center. "The Catholic Funding Guide," he said, "is a wonderful resource that will save precious hours of work while opening up a new world of funding possibilities for parish projects."

In announcing the Second Edition, FADICA's president, Francis J. Butler, said that the publication of The Guide "is intended to help grant seekers become more effective. It shows them what elements go into good proposals," he stated, "and gives direction on how to match proposals with the program focus of Catholic grant makers."

The Catholic Funding Guide Second Edition is available for ordering through FADICA's web site (www.fadica.org), by phone (202-223-3550) or through the mail (P.O. Box 57223 Washington, D.C. 20037-7223).

The book sells for $60.00 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling.
