Washington, D.C. ----- Sr. Maryanna Coyle, SC chairperson of Catholic Health Initiatives of Denver Colorado, one of the largest health networks in the nation, and President of the Sisters of Charity Foundation in Cincinnati, was elected to the board of FADICA November 2nd during the organization’s fall meeting in Louisville.

"We are very pleased to have the depth of experience of Sister Maryanna who is a widely admired and esteemed leader in the Catholic charitable field," said FADICA’s president, Francis J. Butler.

Sr. Maryanna served as President of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati from 1987-1995, and currently serves as Chairperson of the Sisters of Charity Senior Care Corporation Planning Committee.

The SC Ministry Foundation awarded $5.7 million dollars in grants to the poor and underserved in year 2001. The foundation seeks to provide financial support for organizations identified with the Sisters of Charity and to further social justice.

The FADICA board of seventeen directors oversees the work of an association for forty-seven private foundations whose annual grantmaking assists the work of the Catholic church. The association is twenty-five years old, and functions as a continuing education forum for foundation trustees. Research on trends impacting the future of Catholic institutions are discussed along with ways to evaluate grantmaking.

In a related action, the FADICA board welcomed to its general membership two private foundations, the Mathile Family Foundation of Dayton, Ohio and the Donum Dei Foundation of New Orleans. Both maintain interests in Catholic education among other focal points.
