FADICA Surveys Its Young Adults
Summer Institute Planned

Washington, D.C. ----- FADICA has launched a three-year program to develop future leadership for the foundation and not-for-profit worlds. The target audience: one hundred young adults within FADICA’s membership network.

The program began this week with a survey to determine areas of convergent interest among twelve areas of church-related philanthropy from campus ministry to marriage and family.

Survey respondents are also asked for their opinion on a range of questions on church life. How well does the church welcome young adults? What is their opinion on how the church as handled the clergy sexual abuse crisis? To what extent is the international perspective of church’s work known to them? These and other questions will aid FADICA in getting a better grasp of generation differences that are at play within Catholic philanthropy.

Later this year, FADICA will convene its young adults in Washington D.C. for an intensive four-day institute providing the fundamentals in foundation management, the nonprofit sector and church organization.

The outreach effort is part of the twenty-seven-year-old organization’s program called the Future Foundation Leadership Venture. The venture is FADICA’s highly-focused effort to invite and prepare more young people to consider volunteer service in Catholic philanthropy.

In early February FADICA board appointed a former Jesuit International Volunteer and John Carroll University graduate, Ryan Daly of Detroit to coordinate the new venture.

“Too often young adults who have talent, energy and a desire to serve are not thinking of themselves as Catholic philanthropists and as potential board leaders and volunteers for Catholic institutions,” said Dr. Francis J. Butler. “We are going to try to change this; our new venture envisions a corps of spiritually-grounded Catholic young adults who will be among the most informed and motivated lay leaders for the church in the decades ahead.”

Young adults who may be interested in more information on the Future Foundation Leadership Venture can contact Ryan Daly at 202-223-3550; email: rdaly@FADICA.org.
